King Nadab

Kingship: 910-909 BC

Age:  His age is not given but he only rules for two years

Contemporaries: King Asa

Father: King Jeroboam

Found in scripture: 1 Kings 15

Nadab was a wicked king who followed in the footsteps of his father Jeroboam.  Nevertheless, he definitely pays the price for his father’s sins as well.  Because Jeroboam led the Israelites into idolatry, the Lord declared that his kingship would be taken away and his family line wiped out.

Nadab only served as king for two years when he was assassinated by Baasha while he was besieging a Philistine town.  Baasha then became king and set about killing all of Jeroboam’s family, in accordance with prophecy.  Jeroboam’s dynasty would end with only his son.  In the end his entire family was lost because of his sin.
